Whitehaven Community Tennis Club has been established for over 100 years and was originally situated at the Whitehaven Playground with the Cricket and Rugby Union clubs. There were 8 grass courts hence the name Lawn Tennis Club. In the 1960’s several courts went to the RU club and 3 hard courts were built.
In the 1990’s after several bouts of vandalism a move was made to enter into a partnership of club – community and school at St Benedicts RC Secondary School. We had our first season there in 1995 but unfortauntely due to the development works of St Benedict's School we have had to move once again, now playing at St Bees School, St Bees.
There is a club night on a Monday evenings between April and September. This is a social club night where every member is welcome to come along and play. The session begins at 18:30hrs and runs until either people have had enough or it gets too dark.
